Effective this month of January 2021, the SSS contribution increases to 13%, the Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) to Php 3,000 and the maximum MSC to Php 25,000. Aside from this increase, there is a an additional contribution called the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF).

Given the situation now because of the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the companies don’t have any choice but to allow their employees to work from home.

The new law is effective March 11, 2019 and it requires private firms to pay "Salary differential" to employees for the duration of employee maternity leave. Salary differential is the difference between the actual salary of the employee and the SSS Maternity Benefit paid by SSS.
